Gallery at NHCUE

Here are some shots of the show here at NHCUE Gallery that I had along with fellow artists Mei Chiu Tai and Allan Macintosh. We all have worked hard throughout the year to get to this point. This also means my time here in Taiwan is getting shorter and shorter. Hard to believe that almost a whole year has gone by already. Now its time for more fun and less work.

Below are photos of some murrine pieces from the show. Enjoy!

Turn, turn, turn.

Getting some good work made this week. Here is a shot while closing off the murrine pickup to make it into a bubble. Always makes a nice cutoff!

Vent Hood Install

Hanging the first piece of the vent hood.

One important feature to a glass shop is good ventilation. Getting hazardous dust and heat out of the studio is key to keeping safe and comfortable working conditions. We had a few pieces of sheet metal cut and folded at a local metal shop for the hood. Now its just a matter of hanging them from the ceiling with some heavy duty anchors.

I am helping, believe me.

Looks good and works good!

The backside of the curtain will be reinforced with some slotted angle iron set at a 45 degree angle from the bottom of the sheet metal to the ceiling. This will really make the whole thing solid and fun to swing from! Our only area to install exhaust fans are in the windows behind the curtain. The windows are not that big but it is enough to squeeze three fans into….better than nothing at all.

Studio space a NHCUE

Took a tour of the future space for the glass studio at the university. Basically it is a classroom stripped down to the bare walls and currently furnished with a brand new electric furnace.
